摘要 Abstract: This paper empirically studies the impacts of child gender on household expenditure choice in China including varieties of consumptions categories and housing expenditure. Using China Household Finance Survey Datasets we find that single-child families will make different spending decision in terms of total household expenditure and traveling given different child genders.. And there is no difference in child's clothes and education expenditures between sing-child families with male and female child. We also find that boy's parents are more likely to buy cheaper apartment in order to get the second apartment.
